- Sugarless Coffee
- M. Hariharamahadevan
There was a call to all the interested people in the world for total block out of lights on 28th March between 8 pm and 9 pm which was called as earth hour. I was at Singapore at that time. In the name of saving electricity and adopting measures against Global Warming as was reported in a leading magazine there, many burnt their candles for making their dinner and filling their stomach. The emission of CO2 level would have been more that would have contributed to global warming, A contrasting phenomena in the name of earth hour. A sugarless coffee, indeed.
A friend of mine was taking the lunch in a training programme with sumptuous varities of mouth–watering items. He was meticulously avoiding the items with Garlic and Onion the reason quoted for that was it was his father’s death anniversary day and he should not take onion and garlic. Why these were prescribed as not to be taken, he pleaded his ignorance. I went on to add that those are among the items that may induce lust and hence should not be taken on the thithi day (death anniversary of our beloved). Whether he keeps himself off from sexual relationship with his wife on the thithi day is of prime importance here. He may avoid garlic and onion without the purpose for which it as banned by elders. Whether the husk is retained leaving the grain is the issue here.
In the macro and the micro examples mentioned above, both point to the sugarless coffee syndrome.
