- Sugarless Coffee
- M. Hariharamahadevan
This is the ninth of the series on the subject. The sugarless coffee is not a drink, but a metaphor, with the message, how the core values are pushed to the background retaining only the likable, favourably taken as advantageous to the moments.
The festival of Bhogi was celebrated in Chennai with more smoke than that of last year, despite the smokeless bhogi campaign undertaken by TNPCB and Chennai corporation People, in sheer ignorance, burnt whatever available - be it plastic bottles, tyres and other rubber materials. The whole place is filled with carcinogens and suffocating, poisonous gases, polluting the whole atmosphere. Whether they are ignorant of or doing all with the knowledge of the consequences of inviting cancer and other diseases not only for them but also for the passers nearby, through such actions.
The significance of celebrating the festival is to bury the ill attitudes, evil thoughts and the like. The real purpose is buried and the contrary emerges. The husk is retained and the grain is discarded. A sugarless coffee indeed.
